Dreamy Luxury Family Escape: the perfect Singapore Itinerary

Singapore has long since outgrown its reputation as a mere stopover destination. Today, it stands as a global pinnacle of luxury family travel, offering a seamless blend of high-end urban sophistication and tropical island bliss.

If you’re planning a getaway that balances "wow" moments for the kids with world-class indulgence for the adults, this six-night split stay is the blueprint for perfection.

Part 1: City Sophistication (3 Nights)

The Vibe: Skyscrapers, Michelin Stars, and Urban Wonders

To experience the heartbeat of the "Garden City," start with three nights in the central business district or Marina Bay. The efficiency of Singapore makes exploring with a family entirely effortless.

Where to Stay

For a luxury stay in the heart of the action, two properties stand above the rest:

  • Mandarin Oriental: Following a massive recent transformation, the "MO" is more stunning than ever. Its position in Marina Bay offers floor-to-ceiling views of the skyline that will leave the kids (and you) speechless. The service is legendary, and the pool area is one of the best for families in the city.

Even when it's overcast it's HOT in Singapore so a good hotel pool is a must.

  • Sofitel Singapore City Centre: Located in the vibrant Tanjong Pagar district, this hotel is a masterpiece of French art de vivre and local botanical charm. It’s perfect for families who want a sleek, modern base with an incredible infinity pool and proximity to Chinatown.

Where to eat

Brasserie Astoria

Located in the stunning, heritage-listed Victoria Concert Hall, Brasserie Astoria is my absolute must-visit right now. It’s the brainchild of Swedish chef Björn Frantzén, and it brings a sense of old-world European glamour that is often missing from modern dining.

  • The Experience: With high ceilings and a sophisticated "moody" vibe, it feels exclusive, yet the table side service makes it surprisingly engaging for children.
  • Don’t Miss: You must order the Toast Astoria (it’s legendary for a reason). If you’re in the mood for some flair, the table side Caesar salad or the flambéed steak are crowd-pleasers that will keep the kids mesmerised.

Two kids enjoy spaghetti at a restaurant. One eagerly lifts pasta high, the other leans in to eat. White tablecloth, cozy booth.

City Highlights

  • Gardens by the Bay: A visit to the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome is non-negotiable. For an elevated experience, book a private tour to learn about the rare flora before the evening light show at the Supertree Grove.
  • Luxury Retail Therapy: Wander through The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands or the boutiques of Orchard Road. Many high-end brands here offer exclusive VIP styling sessions for families.

Part 2: Island Sanctuary (3 Nights)

The Vibe: Private Villas, Golden Sands, and Adventure

After soaking up the city’s energy, take the short bridge over to Sentosa Island. It’s only 15 minutes away, but it feels like a different world entirely.

Where to Stay

Raffles Sentosa Resort & Spa

For the ultimate in exclusivity, the newly opened Raffles Sentosa is the destination. As the first all-villa resort on the island, it redefines privacy. Each villa comes with its own private pool and the famed Raffles Butler service. It’s the perfect sanctuary where you can retreat after a day of island exploration, enjoying the quiet luxury that the Raffles brand is known for worldwide.

Where to Eat

Empire Grill

Empire Grill has a modern Italian concept that manages to be both incredibly sophisticated and wonderfully relaxed.

  • The Vibe: Set right by the poolside with lush tropical views, it feels like a private oasis. The service is next level - knowledgable, friendly and efficient
  • The Food: They specialize in wood-fired meats and seafood that bring a rustic Tuscan soul to the table. My absolute favourite was the pasta with burrata and truffle. They also offer a very well priced Amarone.

Family Adventure: Universal Studios Singapore

You can’t stay on Sentosa without visiting Universal Studios Singapore (USS). To keep it within the realm of a luxury holiday, I highly recommend booking the Universal Studios Singapore VIP Experience.

  • The Perks: You’ll get a guided tour of the park, priority access to at least eight attractions (say goodbye to long queues!), and private meet-and-greets with characters. It’s the only way to do the park if you value your time and comfort.

Why Singapore works for families looking for a luxury escape

What sets Singapore apart is the attention to detail. From the pristine cleanliness of the streets to the beautiful gardens and the next level restaurants, the "friction" of travel simply disappears here.

Whether you are lounging in your private villa at Raffles or watching the sunset over the Marina Bay skyline, Singapore delivers a sophisticated, high-end experience that every member of the family will remember.

Travel Tip:

If you're flying into Changi Airport, don't miss Jewel. Even if you’ve seen the photos, the HSBC Rain Vortex is a marvel of engineering that is best experienced in person before you head to your hotel.
